My Project
This is my second year as a Reading Specialist for grades 3-5 in a Philadelphia Charter School. My students are bright, inquisitive, and hopeful. While the students have had a very tough few years due to Covid-19, they remain resilient and are so excited to learn and to improve their reading skills.
I would love to start the year off right with some essentials like pencils, highlighters, and student notebooks.
Additionally, I am requesting some "extra" materials to motivate students to do their best. Last year, I had a lot of success motivating students with a "prize bin" filled with stickers, mini fidget toys, and some healthy snacks like granola bars. Since many of my students have developed negative associations with reading, I find it very helpful to have some fun and silly incentives to keep them engaged in learning.
