This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students walk into our classroom every day excited for the new challenges that await them that day. Each day they are reminded that they were selected to be in my class because I asked for the best students in the school and that's exactly what I got. I let them know that they can do anything if they believe in themselves as much as I believe in them.

I teach at a Title I school in Las Vegas where more than half of our students are on free or reduced lunch.

Many of their families struggle just to make ends meet. You would never know it from the passion and enthusiasm they show each morning when they come to our classroom. They want to be here because they know that if they give their best, they can achieve anything in life.

My Project

This project will make a huge difference for the children in my classroom. It makes me sad to see how stressed kids can get these days. Some things are worth stressing out over, but my main goal is to have my students working in a stress free environment.

One things that students should not have to stress about is having to afford to pay for basic academic needs like pencils and erasers.

That is not conducive to a productive learning environment. I want my students to go home and worry about practicing their academic skills, not if they are able to afford to bring a pencil to class the next day. Providing these to the students are day one lets them know that their main focus this year is going to be on academics, and that their basic academic needs will be taken care of.
