Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach middle school Design at a public IB school where creativity and problem-solving are at the heart of everything we do. My students are eager makers, thinkers, and doers who thrive when given opportunities to express themselves through hands-on learning. To help them fully engage with the design process, we need basic but essential supplies—paper, markers, colored pencils, and chart paper. These tools may seem small, but they are the foundation of our projects, from brainstorming product ideas to sketching prototypes and presenting final designs.
With these supplies, students will be able to dive into our opening units on innovation and personal expression.
Each student will create design journals, visual planning boards, and creative reflections. The goal is to help students build confidence in communicating ideas through visuals and planning documents while giving them the freedom to take ownership of their work. Your donation ensures that every student, regardless of background, has access to the materials they need to succeed.
What makes my students special is their enthusiasm, resilience, and ability to think outside the box. Many of them come from diverse communities and bring unique perspectives to class. By supporting this project, you are giving them the tools to turn those perspectives into powerful designs and thoughtful solutions that reflect who they are and what they care about.
