I teach a fantastic group of 2nd graders in a high poverty, multicultural setting in Pennsylvania. Next year, I will be teaching 1st grade, I will have a new class of excited first graders!
All of our students qualify for free lunch and usually come to school with very few supplies.
From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom I focus on students potential and growth while they are with me. I may not be able to control their home lives, however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hopeful to inspire even our earliest learners to continue on a path of academic excellence.
My students deserve to read and listen to books on a daily basis Your donations would be greatly appreciated and help children continue their journey in becoming better readers.
A listening center with books on students' reading levels will create lifelong learners and better readers.
Our students are reading books that are ripped, damaged and missing pages. Some only ever get time to read on their level during Guided Reading. Funding this project will give my students an opportunity to listen to different stories on a daily basis. They will be exposed to new literature on their reading level! Essentially these items, which include many different types of books with CD's, a listening center, and headphones will help them grow as readers across the literacy board.
