My Students

I teach a wide-range of students. While they are all learning biology, some of them are much more advanced while others are quite new to the subject and need more assistance. It requires me to differentiate daily, whether that's during a lab, a project or just during instruction.

Our students come from a variety of backgrounds with many different skills.

Some are going straight into the workforce and some will go to a four-year university. We have students who are natural-born leaders and some who prefer to follow instructions from others. Some of our students prefer to show what they have learned through visual, artistic representations while others write stories or make speeches.

We have had students explore genetics by exploring their family history, learn about a variety of diseases by creating a product to help a person with that disease have an easier or better life, and even had a genetic counselor come in to speak to them about bioethics.

My Project

We cannot wait to go outside and start gardening! My students love when they get the chance to get some fresh air while caring for our plants. In Wisconsin, it feels like we are waiting forever for spring to get here and we want to be as prepared as possible when we can finally get our hands dirty and start growing some healthy fruits and vegetables!

These items will help us as we prepare our raised beds for planting -- this year we are focusing on cherry tomatoes, zucchini, jalapeño peppers, and flowers!

The tiller is going to be extremely beneficial because our soil is very tough to dig into after the long winter!
