This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our current chairs are in a sad and very sticky condition & the tables kids play/learn in were inherited from closed classrooms. We have successfully used the furniture for over ten years — however, new year, new furniture! Please help me in funding new tables & chairs that are size appropriate for little bodies.
In the modern pre-k classroom, the environment is the "other teacher," which means comfortable and appropriately sized classroom furniture is key to encouraging exploration & limitless learning.
New tables & chairs will help my new students become independent, help with collaborative conversations while playing, and even help them gain negotiating skills (have you ever seen kids negotiate seating?) The lazy Susans will allow all students to use table materials w/out conflict.
As a pre-k teacher, these skills are exactly what my students need to be successful in their educational careers and beyond.
