Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are a very diverse group. They come from different backgrounds and beliefs. Some kids have access to technology and some don't have it at home. With the rise in the knowledge of technology for current jobs, all students need to know how to be tech savvy. Our school has a diverse population with 95% of students on free and reduced-price lunch. Many face challenges in and out of school and in their homes. School is a place of refuge for some, and I want to provide ample opportunities for them to shine where they are in their development. As their teacher, I see a group of wonderful children full of energy and a willingness to jump in and try new things.
With Arizona being 49th in state funding, it is very difficult to give all students what they need.
In order for our students to compete in the job market, they must be exposed to and be able to solve problems.
My Project
Today's classroom's need technology to reach the outside world and prepare our students for their future. School budgets do not allow for updated technology and as teachers, we struggle to keep the classroom advancing with the technology in the outside world.
Many of the students in my classroom do not have access to technology at home.
It is imperative that they are allowed to explore with technology throughout the day in school.
This wall mounted television will allow my class to see internet ready activities, pictures, and videos from around the world. We also will be able to connect through tools, like Google Hangouts, with other classes and professionals all year long.
