Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
We begin our unit on climate change by learning about the Arctic and Antarctica, but most students have never seen a map of either. Many students have a misconception that Antarctica is the shape of a rectangle and the Arctic is a solid piece of land. Using these topographic maps students will learn about the regions and their landscapes.
Antarctica's land looks like a hitchhiker's hand and the Arctic is water surrounded by many countries, they are AMAZING regions!
These maps will allow students to see the mountainous regions of Antarctica and the many research bases which are owned by countries around the world also many countries reach into the Arctic circle including the USA.
Using these maps students will be placed in the shoes and dog sleds of early explorers and better understand how these missions to unchartered areas were both scary and very rewarding.
