Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our school consists of about 90 percent English Language Learners and 100 percent on free/reduced lunch. Our teaching day consists of teaching Integrated ELD and Designated ELD for a minimum of 30 minutes a day and we support our newcomers with the most support as we level students during Designated ELD. Our focus is to teach reading, writing, listening, and speaking throughout the content and we team teach to help meet the needs of our EL population. Over the past couple of years we have seen a big shift in immigrants traveling over the border and coming to live in our low-income and low socio-economic barrio here in southern California.Creating a dynamic and engaging learning environment is crucial, and providing students with a variety of seating options enhances their overall classroom experience.
Introducing swivel stools into the classroom not only gives students the flexibility to collaborate with peers at different desks or tables but also facilitates group discussions in a circle setting.
Additionally, improved seating at the reading table contributes to a more comfortable and conducive space for focused learning.
First graders work hard and play hard. The air fresheners will help transform our room into an inviting place to learn.
