We currently have five bass xylophones that our students love to play during music class. However, they are heavy and take up space, and do not get used as often as they could be.
These custom wheeled stands will make it possible to move the instruments in the classroom space and to adjust the height for different grade levels.
Students or I could wheel the instruments in and out of the closet spaces for rhythm games, orchestrations, and collaborative activities. The instruments can be adjusted to a proper height for students of all sizes to play them standing or sitting.
Currently, we place these xylophones directly on the floor and students sit on their knees to play. This is not ideal as some students 'fit' better than others in that way. They're too tall for kindergarteners and too short for most of the middle schoolers. The instruments then become a tripping hazard as students weave in front and behind to find a good position.
These five-wheeled stands will revolutionize our music classroom space, as we can bring xylophones into the area to play patterns and melodies, and then wheel them back out to move on to other activities. We can also wheel these out to the stage area to use in our grade-level music programs.
