My students need a comfortable place to read along with a couch and cushions, they also need a unit that would allow them to read books as they are listening to them.

Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Most of my students don't have books at home to read. I want to show them that they can get a comfortable with a book just like they can with the television.

My students are being raised in the inner city of Baltimore.

Most of my parents have not graduated from any college. 95% of my students qualify for free lunches. Many of my students don't have children's books at home to read. They are like sponges and want to learn how to read.

My Project

Having a place for them to read while they sit comfortably would show them that reading is fun. If I can get them hooked on reading, they will be very successful in school. Listening to books will help them get excited about reading and show them how to follow along with the CD.

My students deserve so much more than what the school provides.

I know that each of my students will appreciate these items and will take pride every time they are in the library area.
