Help me give my students the confidence they need to read any word they encounter, through the use of visual stories.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I provide intensive reading instruction to an amazing group of students with mild to moderate learning disabilities, ranging from second to fifth grade. Majority of students are below grade level standards in reading either by one or two grades.
Supplemental resources are necessary in meeting individual needs.
These include activities that incorporate all modalities: hands on, kinesthetic, visual, tactile, and auditory.
Incorporating "Secret Stories" in the classroom will give my students the opportunity to have access to visual cues of various sound patterns that are aligned with a student-friendly memorable story. Due to the curriculum emphasizing phonics along with comprehension, these posters will give them another strategy they can use to dissect and break words apart they do not know; allowing them to decode and understand the text. Students will be able to refer to posters throughout the day as they read and write; gradually generalizing these skills independently across all subject areas and environments.
