Our school, which is bursting at the seams, has a large population of English language learners. About one-third of our students are in the process of building English proficiency; we are home to students from around the world. Some of our students come to us without prior formal schooling. Others have a strong academic background in one (or two!) languages and are focused on building English vocabulary and language.
Students will be able to read fairy tales and folk tales from this collection and then use the storytelling kits to practice using the vocabulary and language skills they gain.
These are appealing versions of classic tales such as Cinderella. Students will be able to use the pieces in the LEGO storytelling kits as supportive props to summarize and retell stories.
Creating and maintaining a rich and varied classroom library is an ongoing process. These books will be a valued addition to our reading choices.
