Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are so sweet and amazing! They are all unique in their own special way. They attend a Chicago public school located in the Back of the Yards community. They come to school enthusiastic to learn new things. Their parents want to be part of their education and are always offering their time to volunteer. Partnering up with families has become a goal of mine because it makes a difference. As their teacher, I want to teach them that education breaks barriers. I also want them to have as many learning experiences as possible in a positive, safe, and welcoming environment. Thank you for considering our project.

My Project

Can you remember when you were in second grade? Did you have interesting books or magazines to read?

I'm requesting Scholastic News to get my second graders excited to read and learn with short, on-level nonfiction and remarkable real-world photos.

My students will learn all about new seasonal science or social studies themes that are relevant to their learning. They'll build the nonfiction reading skills they need to succeed. They will have online resources like digital issues and learning videos. I'll have text-to-speech audio to help me lead my instruction, too. My students will be excited to read and learn!
