This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Each spring, my kindergarten students and I explore the rainforest! We also discover the plants and animals in the jungle! We read, write, create art, and do STEM projects related to the rainforest.

To help students make more connections between their background knowledge and what they are reading, I want to add more fiction books featuring the jungle and jungle animals to our classroom library!

These books would reinforce students' knowledge of the rainforest while they learn the elements of fiction- character, plot, and setting. We can also compare and contrast our fiction and nonfiction rainforest books!
