Help me give my students a collection of very easy-to-read books to support development of English proficiency and reading skills.

My Project

Our school, which is bursting at the seams, has a large population of English language learners. About one-third of our students are in the process of building English proficiency; we are home to students from around the world. Some of our students come to us without prior formal schooling. Others have a strong academic background in one (or two!) languages and are focused on building English vocabulary and language.

Students will be able to select books from this collection during independent reading time.

These are very simple books for my beginning readers. The topics are connected to grade level content so that the books can be used as a launch pad for understanding throughout the school day.

Creating and maintaining a rich and varied classroom library is an ongoing process. These books will provide a great base on which to build based on individual student interests.
