My Project

As the year begins, I want to welcome my students into a classroom filled with fresh, new books they will want to pick up and read. As the year gets underway, my students will be the driving force behind book selection, but these titles, recommended by parents and teachers alike, will help us get started with exploring books and discovered preferred authors and genres. As a bonus, many of these books are part of a series.

Many students report to me at the start of the year that they have never read an entire book.

Others have done some "fake reading" in school, but do not read at home for pleasure. It is uncommon to find a student who can name a favorite author or genre. I hope that this book collection will help us change some of these things for many students over the course of the year.
