This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My French 1 students are a motivated group of 7th and 8th graders learning a new language. We listen and speak French, learn new vocabulary words, and use the language for dialogues, projects, presentations and more.

Now, I want my students to read books in French!

Reading simple stories is an excellent way to learn a new language. They will listen to the story read by me, learning new vocabulary along the way. I will do checks for understanding, lots of movement to demonstrate new terms. Then they will draw the stories as they listen to the story. Eventually, they will be able to read the story on their own! This approach to language acquisition is one of the most effective ways to learn. They are already using the French they've learned. But this will give them a fun new challenge. They will be so proud of themselves when they are able to read and understand on their own! This book--Look, I Can Talk! French Edition, has easy to understand stories. A dictionary will help us look up new words as well. The wall hangings will help to engage my students visually. Help our French students read new levels of understanding and engagement.
