Our school, which is bursting at the seams, has a large population of English language learners. About one-third of our students are in the process of building English proficiency; we are home to students from around the world. Some of our students come to us without prior formal schooling. Others have a strong academic background in one (or two!) languages and are focused on building English vocabulary and language.
Students will be able to select books from this collection during independent reading time.
This is a varied assortment of easy-to-read nonfiction with a number of biographies. Students will be able to build knowledge of historical figures while improving reading stamina and increasing English vocabulary.
Creating and maintaining a rich and varied classroom library is an ongoing process. These books will provide a great base on which to build based on individual student interests.
