it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
With this project I'm hoping to give my students the opportunity to get a glimpse of what it’s like to grow up on the other side of the world, where the very act of existing can be criminal. The story chronicles Trevor Noah's experience of growing up a mixed race child in apartheid-era South Africa.
I hope that reading this book will give my students new perspectives on culture, family, systemic discrimination, perseverance, compassion, and many other valuable life lessons.
Students will be able to see themselves in Noah's story, while also getting a glimpse into a very different world filled with many cultures and life experiences told in a sobering, but often hilarious way.
