My Students

I currently have 30 students in my third class. My students are excited, eager and ready to embrace technology. They are very excited about learning but at the moment we only have one working computer with internet access in the classroom. As well as majority of my students are faced with socio-economic challenges at home which doesn't allow them to have access to technology. They are in a school that doesn't have much technology and the students need to be exposed to technology that can enhance their proficiency in all subject areas. Which ultimately will prepare them for future endeavors.

My Project

Reading and Math are the two most important subjects in which students gain knowledge and skills by working for an extended period of time to investigate and respond to an authentic, engaging, and complex question, problem, or challenge.

My students need to read and think on a higher grade level so they need the laptops to help with their comprehension.

They also need to practice their math fluency so that they are able to multiply quicker. My students have a love for Reading and Math but at the moment we only have three computers to use for the entire class. These resources would help give my students individualized attention in Math and Reading. They will use the computers in reading to read more books. They will use the resources during math to help with their multiplication fluency. The multiplication fluency has been a challenge for them after Hurricane Irma. We loss all of our technology in our class and we are trying to rebuild.

My student share a keen interest for many different things that are restricted due to the lack of technology. These materials will allow them to be exposed to more complex text, and in turn become more fluency in Reading and Math.
