This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school has a diverse population with 88% of students on free and reduced-price lunch. Many face challenges in and out of school and in their homes. School is a place of refuge for some, and I want to provide ample opportunities for them to shine where they are in their development. As their teacher, I see a group of wonderful children full of energy and a willingness to jump in and try new things.

Having the needed supplies to allow them to explore daily will encourage them to try new things in an environment that is safe and comfortable.

My students need literature and books to help learn more about the world around them. I would like to build a library rich with books that students can share and grow from reading information about specific topics and subjects.

In science we focus on life cycles of humans and animals. By enriching their experiences with books about the subjects I can help them find information they would need to learn from and share.

My Project

One of the subjects for second science is learning about various life cycles. Students will have many opportunities to participate in experiments through out the school year. The hands on projects help them understand by observation with reflections. However some life cycles we can only read about and learn.

Having a classroom library rich with non-fiction science books so students can read for themselves and reflect upon is extremely encouraging and engaging in their learning.

I have found books that will enrich our classroom and allow students to take charge of their learning and encourage a love for reading non-fiction. Please join us in helping to build a library full of books for students to want to read and build upon their knowledge with various texts.
