My Students
Many of the students in my classes struggle with reading. They work diligently every day in an attempt to achieve grade level reading skills. This is made even more difficult by the conditions in which they live.
Most of the students in my classes come from low-income homes and many are ELL students.
Because of their low level of reading, they don't enjoy the process and the struggle continues. My goal, as a reading and Language Arts teacher, is to not only help my students achieve grade-level reading skills but also to help them develop a love of reading.
My Project
This year my Language Arts class will be reading" Much Ado About Nothing" by William Shakespeare. This can be a challenging process and I want to make it fun. Many of my students struggle with basic reading skills and simply reading "Much Ado" in its original form, would prove to be a very difficult endeavor.
No Fear Shakespeare Books provide kids an accessible path to better understanding some of the most difficult and rewarding pieces of literature.
We will read the original side by side with our new copies of No Fear Shakespeare, while enjoying the spice of salsa and chips, in an effort to make this project both creative and educational.
