This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are beautiful and unique. They come from a variety of social emotional, speech and language and educational backgrounds. The families I work with require support and guidance in preparing their children for the world.
Kindergarten lays down the foundation for future citizens of our society.
I feel it is my duty to prepare and inspire the children to be lifelong learners regardless of their socioeconomic backgrounds.
Be it social, financial, or emotional struggles, all these young minds deserve to be educated equally with the tools essential to their growth.
Some of my students may have wonderful positive learning experiences in the world while others need to be exposed to language and learning for the first time. Parents and caregivers may not have the financial means to expose their child to the educational skills necessary for learning. It is my passion to be able to make a difference in the life of a child and make it a positive learning environment so they will be confident capable citizens in the world we live in.
My Project
Many of the children in our school have little or no experience playing with toys. Some of our students come from lower income families that may find it difficult to afford extras like toys and play materials.
I would like to facilitate pretend play with play dough and dolls to encourage dramatic play experiences to help with language expression, sharing, turn taking, social emotional skills as well as conflict resolution, and self-regulation skills.
When children interact with each other it allows them to act out scenarios and real life experiences.
Children need to feel comfortable in a safe and fun atmosphere for learning. When I promote play it helps to develop social emotional and cognitive skills.
