Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Being young scientists, my students are inquisitive and are constantly questioning the world around them. They have many talents and skills that they bring to our classroom every day. They are creative and critical thinkers who are developing a scientifically-based view of their worlds. They are problem solvers who are not afraid to take on complex challenges. Our school serves students of all abilities and proudly promotes the idea that all students can learn, but not on the same day and not in the same way. For our second semester we study Health. My students take the skills they learned in science and apply it to health topics that will affect the lives now and in the future.

My Project

BrainPOP can be a valuable resource for our new online learning environment. All of the videos use the character Tim and his robot friend Moby to explain the topic or concept. They insert humor even in the videos of very serious topics, like the Covid-19 Coronavirus video. The videos can be used in many ways, for example as an introduction to a topic or as a way to review. It’s also has games, mind maps, quizzes, vocabulary, and quizzes. It can be used to reinforce concepts or as a way to fill in gaps of knowledge. It’s great for not only visual, but for all learners.
