Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach first grade in a priority district. My classroom includes ELLs, special education students and students with a variety of economic backgrounds. Our students are energetic, excited about school, and ready to learn. They come to school smiling each day and can't wait to hear about what we are going to be doing during our time together. Our students receive free breakfast and lunch. We encourage and receive support from our families in the form of volunteerism, donated time, and community involvement, and our parents are very invested in their child's education.
My Project
I am so excited about the materials I am requesting for my students, but I need your help to get my project launched! This year I would like to offer my students the opportunity to play! The materials I am requesting are the supplies for their play activities. Students will be able to explore, create and communicate daily.
Students will be excited to come to school, and play will encourage collaboration and problem-solving.
Students will practice sharing, trying new things, and making connections. Students will be able to socialize with other students while being creative and using their imaginations.
The materials I have chosen are highly engaging materials that will be rotated in and out on a weekly basis. I have read extensively about the importance of daily play. I would love to have my project funded so that I can offer these games and activities to my students and watch them grow even more!
