Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We have a school with 11 special education classes; 8 of which are impacted severely with autism. Our students range in ability and we do not have a curriculum that targets beginning readers. Our students are fun, excited to learn, and would benefit greatly from any support that is offered. Our students learn best from hands-on learning and learning through visual support. We thank you for the opportunity to show what we can do with just a bit of generosity from the community.
My Project
I work at a school of about 900 students with a special education population of about 150, including students with severe autism. We do not have much in the way of equipment for the kids to use at P.E. or recess. Most of what we do have is donated by our staff. We are a low-income school with 100% free lunch. Many of our kids only get to play outside at school and they don’t have the equipment to be able to enjoy their outdoor time to the fullest. Please help our students and staff be able to make outdoor play fun again!
