How frustrating is it when the teacher has to move on with the lesson and you haven't quite grasped the concept? How much fun would it be to use UNO cards to work on that concept?
During small math groups, students will be able to grab a deck of UNO cards and choose a math concept worksheet (inequalities, basic math skill, time, money, fractions, etc) and perfect this skill without a time restraint.
They will be able to pick one of the UNO sheets (which a bundle can be purchased on TPT with many grades leveled math standards) and put it in a dry erase sleeve, this way it doesn't matter if they make a mistake. They can erase off the sheet and keep practicing without any stress of others knowing mistakes were made. With the multi-leveled bundle from TPT, students will also be able to go back to a standard and sharpen that skill or move ahead to challenge themselves on a standard that they have not had yet.
I have students that are ahead of the class and some that just need a little extra time to work on math concepts and they don't want to be embarrassed in front of other students. I want them to be successful without the stress of other people seeing them struggle. Not only would their math skills build, but confidence would be gained.
