My Project

Our students attend a public elementary school in San Francisco and they all want to play during recess time. Our school has not purchased new recess equipment for many years, so naturally, many of the items have been broken or lost, leaving children with less to play with during their recess breaks, and not interested in playing or moving around. Our school needs new recess equipment to help students engage in safe active play during recess time. Because not everyone prefers to play with balls, jump ropes, or hula hoops, having new and novel games and equipment that can be adult-facilitated, can teach children to share and take turns, expand their play interests, work on balance and coordination, and develop other gross motor movement skills.

Having new recess equipment would provide more opportunities for students to participate in active movement to release energy.

This would allow children to return to the classroom with a renewed sense of focus and attention to learn.
