I am a Bilingual Pre-K teacher that teaches in a public school. My twenty students range in age from 3 to 5 years old. My students come from a lower-income neighborhood. I strive to afford them exciting opportunities to learn in various ways.
My students are extremely inquisitive, creative, and eager to learn.
They are hands-on learners and have energy and enthusiasm for learning new topics. My students are loving, caring and supportive of one another. I'm excited to support them on their journey of learning and growing.
My Project
The dollhouse, miniature furniture and people will encourage imaginary play, which is beneficial to my students’ intellectual and social development. These materials will help my students investigate the world around them through dramatization and language. During their pretend play, my students can use symbolic representations of their lives. I hope to have students act out typical routines from home and the classroom. I will encourage students to retell stories or events that happened to them. These materials will also encourage sharing and turn taking.
The dollhouse, miniature furniture and people will promote exploration through actions and language.
This role-playing and dialogue amongst peers helps students develop social, emotional and intellectual skills. Children will acquire confidence, higher self-esteem and language skills, which are all important components to learning in a Pre-K classroom.
