Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My kindergarten classroom is composed of English language learners in a high-need community. About a third of my students did not attend preschool and come lacking skills necessary for the beginning of kinder.

Make believe play can make a dramatic difference in teaching children self regulation that, according to research, can increase focused attention which is a crucial factor in learning.

One huge part of make believe is for children to practice role playing. The kitchen set and accessories will allow my students to role play family roles and family relationships as well as to develop their English vocabulary.

According to research the lack of ability to self regulate can lead to a lack of self control which hinders academic learning and can lead to self destructive behaviors later in their life. Your help will ensure that my students, through make believe play, learn and practice the importance of self regulating their behavior and increase their chance of school success for the rest of their academic lives.
