Every day students enter my classroom with a desire to learn and grow. They are curious about the world and each other. My science students explore the world through scientific inquiry, and engineering to develop an understanding of how things work and begin to creatively design their own solution to everyday problems. My AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) students work diligently to learn skills and strategies that will help them become college and career ready.
Many of my students come from different cultures with more than 26 different native languages spoken at home in our school.
I also have ELL (English Language Learners) and special education students integrated into all of my classes. Every day, I work hard at differentiating my instruction to meet the needs of all of these students.
My Project
My students need board games that teach them financial literacy. These games are not only fun, but they will teach my students about how to manage their money. The Game of Life will allow them to make choices in their life, like college or career, and family or no family. These choices will allow them to see how it impacts them financially. Who doesn't love Monopoly? Students will be able to learn about buying and renting properties as well as learn money management.
Board games are a great way for my students to learn important skills like problem-solving, collaboration, critical thinking, and financial literacy.
Board games in the classroom are a great way to get kids communicating with each other, having fun, and learning at the same time!
