Let's Move: Flexible Seating Resources

My students need stability balls to accommodate their active bodies. The Vivora Niko balls have been tested and approved by many teachers and parents, who say they are a great fit for kindergarten students.

My Students

My students are an active group of five and six-year-olds. They are enthusiastic about school. They love to learn, to socialize, and to grow. My students come from a variety of backgrounds. Some have lots of school experience from attending preschool or Head Start. Others are experiencing school for the first time this year in kindergarten!

My hope for each student is they leave my class as a passionate and confident learner.

To accomplish this goal, I work hard to provide my students with the resources and opportunities necessary for success. Kindergarten is the year where they can decide to love school and start their academic career off strong. With your help, I can make that happen for these students.

My Project

I have personally seen the benefits of flexible seating in the kindergarten classroom. I began to incorporate flexible seating options into my classroom last year and saw major improvements in my students' ability to stay engaged in whole group and independent activities. Currently, we have stools and wiggle cushions. However, we do not have enough for the whole class, and as you can imagine they are very popular!

These stability balls would provide more seating options for my students.

With the addition of these products, all of my students would have the option to sit on something other than a traditional chair. This would allow them to attend to tasks for longer periods of time and with more engagement. Additionally, there has been a lot of research on the need for building sensory motor skills at this age. The exercise balls specifically would allow an opportunity for that development, which is not really supported by our current flexible seating options.
