Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Having a classroom rug may not seem like a necessity to some, but my students need a comfortable place to expand their learning area.

This classroom rug will provide a room within a room by giving a defined area where we can meet on a regular basis.

When directed to "have a seat on the carpet", students will know exactly where to go and where to sit. The carpet will be used for both whole group lessons as well as a center area for students to work in small groups. Best of all, this rug does not have defined areas for students to sit, but rather an open space area where students can determine their own spot to sit.

Our school community is located in a high-poverty area and the school is a safe haven for my students. I am so proud of the effort the students make every day despite everything that they have experienced in their young lives. Engagement and focus are keywords in our changing learning environment.
