Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you love Math? I do and I want the same for my students! I teach a wonderful group of students at a Title I school. Over 67% of the students are Hispanic and learning the English language.
My students love to learn and want to be successful, especially in Math.
Due to the language barrier and other socioeconomic factors, my students are not currently working on their grade level. They do not have the necessary prior knowledge or materials at home and have fallen behind their peers in Mathematics. Many of them are not enthusiastic about learning Math because its overwhelming for them. It is hard for them to learn material on their grade level because they lack number sense and the basic skills. One of the biggest factors in their learning of math is that they are unable to relate it to real life situations.
My Project
My students would love to receive these materials to help them strengthen their math skills! The Pizza Fraction Fun Game is a wonderful tool to provide them with various hands-on fraction practice. It will be essential for relating fractions to real life situations, which is something that is hard to understand for them. The Spot The Error Cards for grades 2 and 3 will be a wonderful resource to assist my students and strengthen my students critical thinking skills and number sense. The Pop To Win game is another great resource. It has various activities to strengthen skills, such as number sense and algebra skills. The Daily Math Word Problem and Practice books will be a wonderful resource to personalize learning with my students. I can assign work based on the students' current needs and academic level. I can use the different grade levels to differentiate and meet my student needs.
Please consider donating to our project!
All of these resources are crucial for my students' learning of the third grade math skills, and will enable them to build their self confidence and prepare them for the future!
