I am a special education teacher at a low socioeconomic school. I work with students who require individualized and specialized instruction in a small group setting in writing and language arts to access the general curriculum.
My students have a strong desire to be successful and are determined to do hard things.
In addition, my students are concrete learners and enjoy using manipulatives and performing hands on activities. My students learn best when they are actively engaged in discovery during the learning process.
My Project
My students are struggling writers. Having hands-on materials and activities to teach writings skills will make learning exciting for my students. These materials will make a difference for increasing student participation in writing.
These interactive games will enable my students to practice writing words, sentences, and paragraphs in an engaging way.
Through play, my students will learn the conventions of English, sight words and parts of speech. My students will become more confident in their writing strategies that I strongly believe will be transferred to their general education setting.
