My students are an energetic and enthusiastic group of learners. They are second graders in an elementary school located in a major metropolitan area of Washington state. They come from diverse backgrounds both culturally and socioeconomically, though our school does have a high level of students who qualify for either free or reduced priced lunch. Despite the challenges that many of them may face, my students come to school each day eager to learn and embrace the challenges of the day.
My Project
A classroom subscription to "Time for Kids" would provide my students with individual copies of engaging informational texts on a variety of topics. From science to social studies topics and beyond, my students will be exposed to a range of topics that will help build their background knowledge on a weekly basis.
A "Time for Kids" subscription would also enable my students to take home their magazines once we are finished with them in class and share their learning with their families.
Students will be able to share what they've learned as well as reread the magazines with their families.
