I am a first-grade and reading teacher in a wonderful school in Wisconsin. My students are very special, and I just love going to school every day to see the sparkle in their little 5- to 8-year-old eyes. I also get to connect with students of various ages during and after school. I truly have the most special job in the world and treasure every day with my students! My students love to read, pretend and imagine. They are curious and love to learn! We all participate in learning every day. They love so many fun activities throughout the year and our hope is to add even more. My students are amazing!
My Project
I am requesting some wonderful sound cards and a blending board so that we can have a lot of fun learning our letter sounds! We can use these cards to make all kinds of words in a very fun, hands-on way! I am so excited about my Orton-Gillingham training. I am using this with my students who struggle with reading, and they are showing so much progress. I want to start working with more and more kids, and with more kids, I need to get my hands on more supplies. The more supplies that I have, the more kids I can work with.
I am so excited about watching students who never thought they would be able to read get that wonderful excitement in their eyes as they read their first book!
Next year, I plan to work with many more struggling students, and I can't wait! There is nothing better than being able to help a child learn to read. Watching their smiles and excitement for learning take off is the best feeling in the world! Imagine watching all of your peers read book after book, and only knowing a few letter names and sounds. These are the children that I get to help read for the very first time, and it is so much fun! It is truly my passion! Please help us to get the hands-on supplies that we need to learn and grow.
