Let's Make our Learning Multi-Dimensional!

Help me give my students 3D printing pens, filament, and mats to make their learning multi-dimensional.

My Project

My students are bright and enthusiastic learners. What makes them unique is that they use both American Sign Language and English to access their education. In our Deaf Education classroom, students engage in essential learning around the topics of language, literacy, math, social skills, problem-solving, etc. This project is designed to help students build critical thinking skills and increase engagement across multiple content areas.

3D printing pens will allow students an opportunity for multi-sensory and multi-dimensional learning that is not yet available in our classroom.

How do students use 3D printing to improve their language and literacy? We plan to create collaborative partner projects that require students to discuss ideas with their peers. Our youngest students can build 3D letters, while older students build words and bring the characters in their written and ASL pieces to life.

How do students use 3D pens for math and problem-solving? Students begin learning about shapes in kindergarten and continue to do so all the way through 5th grade. What better way to explore shapes, angles, and curves than to create them themselves? My young learners are going to be so excited to design their own cubes, pyramids, cones, and prisms. The possibilities for instruction using 3D pens in our classroom are limitless. Mahalo for considering this project.
