This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach first graders in a school district with no music or art classes for elementary students. I have always wanted to incorporate music into my teaching practices. My son is a musician who has benefitted immensely from developing his musical skills over the years.

I want to introduce music to my students at their young age of 6.

I’m hoping to excite and inspire them to the possibility of further pursuing music in middle and high school and beyond.

I also asked for a set of phonics games. Student learning suffered due to COVID. I have first graders entering who did not attend kindergarten. These phonics based games will help make learning beginning reading skills fun and engaging for them.
