Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students love coming to school. They are sweet, loving children who look forward to school every single day. However, my students struggle with reading. Some of my students are unable to read books because they are significantly reading below grade level. They also struggle with spelling during writing activities. Many of them are missing basic reading, writing, and spelling skills. My students also struggle with basic math facts. I really want to help my students to become better readers and mathematicians by the end of the school year!
All of my students receive free lunch and come from low-income homes.
I work with students from many different backgrounds. English is a second language for many of my students. My school is one of the biggest schools in the state. Many of the students come from single family homes and live in very tough neighborhoods.
My Project
The Sight-Word Daily Activity Journals will help my students master their all of their sight words to help improve their reading fluency skills.
The reading comprehension practice journals will help my students develop their reading comprehension skills!
This journal includes 35 weeks of daily comprehension activities that encourage students to think critically and deepen their understanding of texts.
The magnetic white boards will be used to learn and write new sight words, new sounds, and more! We can also use the markers and white boards to write new words and practice our math facts!
We will use the clay to spell out and make new words. We will also use the clay for our sensory breaks and for indoor recess!
