My Project

The idea is to have students build up their knowledge of forces, energy, and motions by building a small-scale amusement park. Students learn about Newton's Laws in IPC Science. They take those concepts and apply it to forces and how they interact with their environment. My students enjoy our yearly fair and know the rides, but they need to learn the forces behind those rides.

The three amusement park sets would enable students to construct a hands-on model that can demonstrate these concepts.

The forces, ie. battery-powered motors, will help students understand potential energy and how it builds up till another force, such as release from the motor, acts upon it to transform potential energy to kinetic energy as the ride progresses, then finally transform into displaced energy when the ride comes to a stop.
