My Students

My students are excited to become strong readers. In order to help them build the foundational skills they need to be successful with leveled reading that looks like "real" reading. I would like to provide them with this experience through leveled reading books that allow for 'real world' practice of phonics skills being practiced in their general education classes and in our special education setting. The leveled books that I am requesting will provide me with books on the ready to help students engage and have fun while learning these critical skills. My students have varying needs and the scope of these requested books will allow me to reach my students during their small group resource instruction time at their varying levels. Research tells us that students who practice reading in books they find interesting learn to apply the isolated skills they learn in a more effective manner. These leveled books will help me to give my students this opportunity.

My Project

These books will greatly enhance my classroom leveled library. Student need an opportunity to apply and test drive the isolated phonics skills they are learning. My classroom library provides them with this opportunity in guided environment the ensures success. These new books will allow my students to have more choice. They will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently!!

Students will have the opportunity to choose books that interest them.

The best way to increase reading ability to to READ!!! Success with reading will bring more confidence and be a building block to positive interaction with the written word!
