Help me give my students kinetic sand. Kinetic sand is so much fun for students of all ages because they can build and create without the sand sticking to them.
My state has been in a fiscal crisis for the past 13 years. We have been teaching in-person since the beginning of August. There literally has been no money allotted to my classroom in over 13 years to purchase supplies or replace broken items that wear out. That's where I'm asking for your help.
I teach an AM class of 3-4-year-old special needs students.
My PM class is an inclusive class of 4-year-old students. I have 10 regular ed kids and 5 students with special needs.
My class is their first contact with the school. I serve general ed children and children diagnosed with autism, intellectual disabilities, drug babies, and mild-moderate birth defects. We work on learning our letters, colors, shapes, and numbers in addition to receiving OT/PT and Speech Therapy. My students always try very hard to achieve to the best of their abilities.
My school is a Title I school with over 75% of our students receiving free/reduced lunch. Several of my students participate in the backpack program and receive free food each weekend.
My Project
We are in desperate need of kinetic sand for our sand and water table. I tried making my own kinetic sand but found that it didn't work. It made my classroom so cloudy from all the dust and triggered asthma attacks with some of my students.
Kinetic sand is simply amazing!
Kids and adults of all ages love playing with it because you can mold and shape it to whatever you want. It doesn't stick to you, cleans up easily, and lasts forever.
The garage buildings will be used to go with our block set and will allow the students to continue to make-believe and build structures.
The buttons will be used to help students sort and classify objects.
