Help me give my students the final materials they need to complete their social emotional mural so they can have a constant reminder of how special they are and motivate them to read, write and learn.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
90% of my students receive free lunch and come from one of the areas that was the hardest hit by the very first outbreak of Covid. Jackson Heights was one of the epicenters of the outbreak. Many of my students lost loved ones during the pandemic and their social-emotional needs are so very great. It is so very difficult to learn when you feel so sad and defeated. Through our social-emotional activities using this cardstock paper and a paper trimmer and creating this mural, these children will learn to love themselves and in turn be able to focus on their academics with a variety of activities that will encourage them to share their feelings and learn to love themselves.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
