My students need some new furniture for their reward time! My students earn reward time after their work completion and our current bean bags and pillows aren't looking so good anymore.
I teach in a school filled with wonderful students and teacher's who want to inspire and educate all of the student's. I am the behavior special education teacher for K-5th grade. I currently have 1st-4th grade with six students who are with me all day; along with seven other students who come to visit me for 20-45 minutes a day.
Our school is around 80% free and reduced price lunch.
The majority of my students come from a single parent family. All of my students are in my room due to their behaviors. Their behaviors prevent them from being in a general education classroom. I also have two full time associates who assist the 6 students throughout the day.
My student's are amazing individuals who are capable of incredible things. The student's require a variety of items, materials, tools and ideas to keep them motivated and engaged in their learning. My students spend a lot of time in my classroom and can become bored with the materials we have available. New and exciting is always a fun way to start a lesson!
My Project
My students earn reward time, or what we call their "A List" time after their work completion. We currently have a fort, that the students built out of pvc pipe, working as a team! In the fort, they have pillows, bean bags and blankets that they get to lay on while they use their electronic devices (I-Pad or Chromebook). Their current bean bags and pillows have been well "loved" and are in need of replacement.
My students work hard to earn their "A List" and deserve a comfy place to lounge around on!
The new bean bags and pillows will be a good motivator for them, as they will want to sit and lay on them while on their Chromebook or I-Pad.
A lot of my students have a lot of energy and sometimes have "ants in their pants". The wiggle seats will be a great way for my students to be able to wiggle appropriately while still listening to my instruction. It will be a good way to combine both worlds!
