Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach in a Title 1 school in Southern California, where 100% of students receive free breakfast and lunch. My students face many obstacles in their lives, such as poverty and crime. But despite these issues, they come to school every day, ready to learn.
My students are enthusiastic learners, who love to read, write, and learn new things.
I want to encourage their enthusiasm and provide them with a safe, nurturing environment where they will persevere and feel successful.
My Project
My class is fortunate to have iPads, but we lack some of the accessories to make them truly effective. When attempting to create presentations on the iPad, we find it difficult to record quality sound without microphones. It is also difficult to hear various apps and recordings on the iPad without headphones.
By funding this project, my students will receive the tools they need to effectively utilize the iPads.
They will be able to record book readings, problem solving explanations, and conversations about various topics. They will be able to hear their recordings, as well as listen to reading and math games they can play on their iPads that increase student achievement.
