My Students

I teach 19 amazing kindergarteners in a small town, within a small community. In my classroom, we work hard to make the good better and the better best. We work every day on maintaining a growth mindset and the idea that mistakes are a chance to try harder.

These kiddos have a great ability to explore and try new things.

Throughout our learning each day we share our thinking and ideas. Every kid brings a fresh perspective to the topic based on their backgrounds. Some live on farms, some live in town. It is so gratifying to me to watch them learn and grow from each other and push themselves to continue to learn each and every day.

My Project

Kindergarten is an exciting and fun time to learn. Exploration is a natural thing for kids. My students could really benefit from a light table and supplies.

This light table and the supplies will provide a new interest to activities while also providing them with a hands-on approach to learning.

We would use this during literacy stations to help learn letters and sounds, sight words, and how to build words. We would also use it during math when working with shapes. In science, I plan to put items on the light table for them to work on observing and exploring.
