Let's Level the Playing Field; The Reading Playing Field!

My students need books that are leveled so they can easily find that perfect book to read. The brightly colored bins come with super-engaging novels, fantasy stories, non-fiction books and more.

My Students

My students, all 35 of them, are amazing! They are a diverse group of students who differ in cultures, beliefs and learning styles, and I can't neglect to say, reading levels. About half of them are ESOL (English as a Second Language) students and they all love to read.

Many of my students are relatively new to our country but you wouldn't know it when you see them interact with each other!

They all love learning, have made new friends, and enjoy learning about each other. Our school is one of the larger K-5th grade schools in Philadelphia, with over 1,100 students and over 42 languages spoken.

My Project

With your help, my students will become successful and enthusiastic readers—with specially selected books for every reading level! Having high interest books that are below their grade level is important too as it will allow me to reach all students. Many students don't have appropriate reading material at home either so I plan on sending home books in a bag home to foster the love of reading and increase their stamina at the same time. In short I need more books to accomplish this goal. I want everyone to become a successful reader!

These leveled books will be ideal for both guided and independent reading, making it easy to provide differentiated instruction—and meet every student’s needs.These leveled-classroom libraries will be an amazing contribution to allow my student access to a variety of genres at various reading levels to accommodate their individual needs.
