This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember what it was like to be able to use your hands to make letters, numbers, and things with played when you were young? You were able to squish the Play-Doh with your fingers and make all the things you could imagine? This is exactly how my kindergarten feel but there is no Play-Doh!

I am a Kindergarten teacher to a class of 19 amazing children.

Our school is a Title One, high poverty, Reading First School located in an urban area. My students are eager and active learners. They love to use their hands to learn about the world around them. Most of them do not have Play-Doh in their homes as part of their childhood experiences.

My Project

My students would love to have all different kinds and colors of Play-Doh. They will use the Play-Doh to make letters, words, numbers, and shapes by using their hands. This will reinforce how they are learning to read and experience the world around them. They will be able to make creations from stories they have read and from their imaginations. They will ultimately be able to take Play-Doh home to share what they have learned with their families as they are able to bring their learning at home and at school together.

Donations to this project will allow Play-Doh to become part of our classroom day.

It will be a creative and fun way to learn and remember letters and numbers. My kindergarten students will be able to take what they have learned at school home to their families. It will bring learning in school and home to the same level.
